¼ cup Truffle Shuffle Brown Butter Truffle Honey
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ¼ tsp allspice
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- ½ cup raisins or currants (optional)
- Zest of 1 orange (optional)
For the Crosses
- ¼ cup flour
- ¼ cup water (adjust for thick paste consistency)
For the Truffle Honey Glaze
-
2 tbsp Truffle Shuffle Brown Butter Truffle Honey
- 1 tbsp warm water
For the Whipped Truffle Honey Butter:
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
-
2 tbsp Truffle Shuffle Brown Butter Truffle Honey
- Pinch of flaky salt
Directions
Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in Truffle Honey, egg, and softened butter.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, spices, and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Add raisins and orange zest (if using).
- Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add flour as needed if sticky.
First Rise
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled.
Shape the Buns: Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Shape into balls and place in a greased 9x13” baking dish.
Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes, until puffy.Mix flour and water to make a thick paste. Pipe a cross over each bun using a piping bag or ziplock with the corner snipped.
Bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.
Mix Truffle Honey and warm water. Brush over warm buns right out of the oven for shine and flavor.
Beat softened butter until fluffy. Add Truffle Honey and a pinch of flaky salt. Whip until smooth and airy.
Serve alongside warm buns. Store any extra in the fridge.
