Directions
Prep 🥒
In a medium pot over high heat, bring the broth to a boil.
Peel and dice the onion. Dice the bell pepper and celery. Peel and slice the garlic.
Cut the sausage into ½ inch thick rounds.
How to Cook 🍳
Heat the pan over medium heat.
Add half of the olive oil and heat until shimmering.
Add the sausage to the pan and cook until browned, stirring from time to time with a wooden spoon, about 4-5 minutes. Remove the sausage from the pan and reserve.
Add the diced vegetables to the pan along with a large pinch of Bayou Blend Seasoning. Cook until the vegetables are translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the crushed tomatoes to the pan and cook down until they become jammy.
Add the rice to the pan and stir into the vegetable mixture.
Add the hot stock to the pan along with the bay leaf, Worcestershire sauce, and sausage; bring to a boil. Turn the heat down to maintain a gentle simmer. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
Season the shrimp on all sides with Bayou Blend Seasoning.
After 15 minutes, add the shrimp to the pan and cover again.
Simmer for 5 more minutes, then turn the heat off and let the rice rest for 5 minutes.
Open the lid and bask in that delicious aroma.
Serve your Louisiana-style shrimp rice along with wedges of lemon and enjoy!
