Directions
PREP 🥒
Preheat the oven to 375F.
- Peel and julienne the onions, slice the bell pepper, wash and slice the mushrooms.
- Peel and mince the garlic.
- Grate the cheeses.
- Slice the rolls.
- Remove the beef from the packaging, pat dry with paper towels, and set aside on a plate.
HOW TO COOK 🍳
Melt the butter in the sauce pot over medium low heat. Add the garlic to the pot and gently cook in the butter for 1 minute until softened.
- Add the flour to the pot and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add half of the milk to the pot, turn the heat up to medium high, and whisk constantly until boiling and a paste forms.
- Add the remaining milk to the pot and bring back to the boil. Turn the heat down to a simmer.
Add the spice mix and season with a pinch of S&P Seasoning. Continue to cook on a low simmer, whisking from time to time, for 8 minutes.
- While the sauce is cooking, it’s time to cook the vegetables.
- Heat a large saute pan over high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the pan and heat until lightly smoking.
- Add the vegetables to the pan and toss quickly to combine.
- Allow the vegetables to cook on one side for 2-3 minutes, don’t stir! This will allow the vegetables to caramelize and lightly char on one side.
Season the vegetables with a pinch of S&P Seasoning, toss, and allow to cook for another 3-4 minutes or until lightly caramelized and softened. Once the vegetables are cooked, remove them from the heat and reserve.
To finish the sauce: Turn the sauce all the way to low and whisk in the cheeses. Adjust the seasoning with S&P Seasoning, cover, and keep warm to reserve.
- Place the rolls on the sheet tray and transfer to the oven for 5 minutes or until lightly crunchy on the outside.
- Heat the cast iron pan over high heat.
- Add the remaining oil to the pan and allow it to smoke lightly.
Season the beef with S&P Seasoning and add it to the pan.
- Cook the beef for 3-5 minutes, until cooked through and well browned.
- Remove the beef from the pan and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
- Now it’s time to plate up those cheesesteaks!! Take a roll, fill it with beef, top the beef with sauteed vegetables, and cover each cheesesteak with delicious cheddar cheese sauce.
Slice or grate the black truffle all over the top and finish with one last pinch of S&P Seasoning. Open up a bag of your favorite chips to go alongside and dig in!!
